Research Interests

  • Fabrication, characterization and application of highly ordered nanostructures, including:
    • Porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates and masks;
    • Carbon nanotube arrays;
    • Nanowire arrays;
    • Nanodot arrays;
    • Semiconductor anti-dot and nanopillar arrays.
    • Via anodization, electrochemical deposition, chemical vapor deposition, e-beam evaporation, and reactive ion etching, etc., methods;
  • Inorganic-organic nanocomposite materials for thermal signature reduction, EMI shielding, and bullet-proof applications;
  • Nanostructured thin films for electrochemical, optical, superconducting, and sensing applications;
  • Nanotips or nanoneedles, via electrochemical etching, for mechanical oscillators/actuators and bio-sensing applications;
  • Densely packed CNT films on various substrates for energy storage, supercapacitor and battery applications;
  • Chemical and biological modification of nanostructured materials including nanopore arrays, carbon nanotubes, and nanoparticles, for optical and bio-sensing applications;
